Spending spree
The big companies are constantly trying to convince us that their new products, which we have never heard of before, are now necessary.
Through advertising, our needs are influenced. With the purchase of a product you do not buy its user-value, but its significance its properties. Depennding on which brand you select, you choose also its image.
So you can refresh yourself, you feel young, stronger and more dynamic. You can be cool like a popstar or some importand person, play different roles and, above all, you can be happy. But all that promised happiness you have in the bag is unfortunately only for a short duration. Because once you have the product at home, have opened it and tried it, its enchantment is suddenly gone. You can try to keep it up, by also showing it to your friend and acquaitances, reap compliments, admiration or envy.
But in the end the product is not new anymore. It gives you no more power and you have to go shopping again.
Therefore so many people fall into a cycle of consumerism, a spending spree that never can make you happy.
