Kunstart: Malerei
Technik: Mischtechnik
Stil: Moderne

Vita / Lebenslauf:
Alessandro Lombardo, better known under his professional name “zenok”, was born on the 18th of December in 1978 in Campi Salentina (Le) Italy, a wonderful place set amid the beauty of the Salento peninsula.Although his scholastic education was not decidedly focused on art studies, his passion for it and his interest in art creations made him, nowadays, a proud autodidact, always looking for new inspiring images and situations. In the early ‘90s, he began having a stake in the graffiti phenomenon. This kind of art, known as “Aerosol-art”, impressed him a lot. Since then, his main concern has been directed towards the study and research of the creation and development of those letters and characters that made him popular and esteemed within the Italian Aerosol-art context. So far, since 1996, he has taken part in events and demonstrations of national importance, and has appeared in specialized magazines, held interviews, worked for television and performed live.In 2004, he produced his first canvas made by spray technique for the international “Airbrush 04” event in Milan. Later on, he was able to carry out many of his projects and after a period of time spent animating unknown colourless places on the streets, he is welcomed by art galleries where he develops his distinctive and recognizable style.
Alessandro Zenok’s “crossing the line paintings” are characterized by a very distinctive chromatic sensitivity which makes it very difficult to categorize them in a final and critical way.Although his training was mostly concerned with Aerosol art, Zenok’s last works show, however, few traces of that technique. He has evolved and concentrated instead on focusing research on the figurative micro-mark on canvas, rather than wall graphic macro-mark.Mostly, but not exclusively, he pays attention to the female body, and sometimes discovers new shapes. These become part of his previous creations and convey a blatant and vibrant sensuality as well as showing a refined and spontaneous facial deformity. Therefore, the female body doesn’t disclose but reveals something, it doesn’t declare but suggests something. Besides, these female bodies are sometimes meant to convey a meaning through the use of colours. The artist combines them in a way that expresses joy as well as a certain energy. In so doing, the observer gets close to the painting and is at once touched emotionally. In his last art production entitled “Brigitte mie”, each painting represents a triumphant woman: showing-off and uninhibited, enchanted and disenchanted, but never natural because unreal. This is what Zenok’s unlimited imagination suggests apart from revealing, through the use of his spray colours, his very distinctive kind of rebellion and freedom. (Katia Olivieri)
