In these works on paper and panel, traditions and radical organization intertwine into a highly developed nescience. Compositions are built up in dense colored pencil and in rendered graphite, In layered glazes of oil or inks and watercolor. These materials articulate the artifacts of human play and wayward technology, navigating within collaged jigs culled from image libraries. New pathways mark a yin yang of autonomy and dominion, elegance and eccentricity, noise and harmony. This dual nature can be seen in the range of fleshly markings and fan-cooled mechanisms employed, as they navigate around a directed possibility-space.
Although the efforts are largely process driven, the questions, themes, and designs of exploration originate from the world. This ignites an abstraction beyond autodidactic loops, accessing unschooled creativity, Central African art, South American shanty towns, European "mediumistic" painting, Pacific traditions, Antarctic experiments and North American amateur artists of endless internet databases.
Building chimeras that are vortexes.
