Bio / Resumee / Statement:
Patricia Arroyo grew up along the shores of Belmar New Jersey. She was born of Hispanic and Dutch descent and displayed a love for art very early in life. Self taught until the age of 31 she decided to quit her career in nursing to become a professional artist. While raising three children, she attended Brookdale Community College and after graduation she was accepted to The New York School of Visual Arts.
It was there where she found the most prominent successful art teachers from all over the world that gave her the passion to think out side of the box and develop her own style of working. After Graduation in 2004 she received a scholarship to travel to Europe and it was there where her paintings shifted from self discovery to world exploration.
Since 1994 Patricia Arroyo has been participating in art festivals and juried art exhibitions through out New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, her work has been displayed in libraries, coffee houses and private businesses. She has sold several hundred pieces of art to private collectors in New Jersey, Florida , New York and Virginia and has painted on commission works to many art lovers.
Her style of painting is as diverse as her nationality. Her work ranges from realism to abstraction, portraits to landscapes and architecture. She paints in watercolors, acrylics, pastels and oils. Digital Photography and the use of Photoshop is another love of hers and she uses it as another medium for her work. “My photography is the foundation on which I use for my paintings, I can manipulate, change color and alter photos to explore different compositions.” Drawing is a mainstay in working on a piece, after working on the computer, she then draws from the picture, and it changes still until she feels she is ready to paint. Then again there are many times she will create a subject in watercolor or collage as a preliminary for the final oil painting. “Art is to me, is a constant state of experimentation.”
Patricia lives and works in her home studio in Wall Township New Jersey.

Patricia was selected for the
Asbury Park Banner program
14 artists were selected to display one artwork on banner flags to be displayed for two years in Asbury Park New Jersey. Opening ceremonies will be held in January 2009.
