GALERIE FLUEGEL-RONCAK, spezialisiert auf zeitgenössische Kunst und Pop Art eröffnet am Freitag, den 20. Mai 2011 die Ausstellung
„ROY LICHTENSTEIN – Dots and Stripes“ von 19:00 bis 21:00 Uhr.

Die Ausstellung dauert bis 22. Juli 2011. Gezeigt werden Originalgrafiken und Lithografien aus der gesamten Schaffensperiode von Lichtenstein.

Roy Lichtenstein zählt neben Warhol und Haring zu den Hauptvertretern der Pop Art Bewegung. Er wurde am 27. Oktober 1923 in New York geboren und starb auch dort am 29. September 1997.
Er malt mit kräftigen, klaren Farben. Seine Vorlagen findet er häufig in Comics oder alten Zeitungsanzeigen. Auf diese Art versucht Roy Lichtenstein, die Kunst mit dem Konsumgut zu verbinden um damit die Kunst und deren Abgehobenheit vom alltäglichen und konsumgeprägten Leben zu kritisieren.

Eines seiner Markenzeichen wurden Gemälde mit stark vergrößertem Punkteraster und Linien.
In den 60er Jahren von der ebenso legendären Castelli Galerie in New York entdeckt, finden sich seine Arbeiten heute in allen bedeutenden Museen rund um den Globus.
