My work began with realistic pieces such as still life, land/streetscape paintings, however as I have developed I am now concentrating on more abstract representation. Although many of my pieces can be classified as technically abstract, my work is also influenced by reality and contains a mixture of both abstract and representational art. My principal subject is mainly figurative – in abstracted form and often solitary. In more recent times I am exploring more formal visual elements such as line, colour and tone. I tend to deconstruct my original thought or visual perception and then using a minimal colour range mix my paint directly onto the canvas. I work mainly with the medium of Acrylic sometimes using a carving/modelling paste to build up textures
